help find info brushless vs brushed
Can someone direct me to a discussion of the pros and cons of brushless vs brushed motors?
I seem to be having difficulty. Are the avg runtimes comparable? |

oops didn't read properly

Brushless are a better system, no doubt about that.
They run for longer, use less power to produce the same speed and should be maintenance free. Properly looked after brushed are not as bad as woOdy makes out, though. Lipo (as well as brushless) is the future, today. Anyone who says different needs a reality check! |

Thanks!
I guess a brushless sensored 8.5turn system is in my future. Wish I didnt buy an RTR. Maybe I can return it when it gets here and buy an SP. Does anyone know if the RTR Orion Brushless has upgraded the drive train and/or suspension? On the other hand maybe the RTR will be fine for my use? Wish I could have tried it before I ordered it. |
I'm with colmo about cells and I still prefer the feel of brushed motors and was seriously considering going back to them for the rest of this season on Sunday!!!!
It's like so much else in life, personal preference! |
so to sum up, you like your power to fade at three minuets, love skimming motors on a regular basis, and changing brushes, if you cant get your brushless to feel similar to brushed you have the wrong system, give me brushless and lipos all the way,
|
'red ..... I hear what your saying about the convenience factor.
But, to be fair, I'm not hurting the cells enough to notice any difference at 330s let alone 180s, the BRM motors I used to run only needed brushes ever couple of meetings (if I was fussy, could run 4 meetings easily if needed) and no I can not get my brushless systems to feel like brushed (both LRP/Nosram speedos and have tried LRP bonded/sintered, Novak R & L and Orion / Peak motors) .... if you can tell me how to do it I'd be very greatful!!!!!!! As I say, personal preference. |

(even though I still run brushed...) |
cheers col lmfao
the only thing we cant get a brushless motor to do that a brushed does is fade at the 3 minuet mark. |
Carl, go on then please explain how you make them smoother .... it would be greatly appreciated!
I'd really like to get hold of a motor that felt like the old BRM 13x3 & 13x4 motors I used to run in 2wd |
smoother, every brushless motor i have seen or ran is way smoother than a brushed, unless your trying to run a 3.5 or a 4.5 or something, its more the lack of dead stick breaking that missing, are you trying to run sensor less??
anyway back to the threads question |
Keep going! I was interested in how to make the brushless systems run smooth too.
|
not as interested as me .... even on the softest settings my set-ups are still WAY more aggressive than I'd like!!
|
what motors and speedo are you running roger??brushless i mean and in what cars
