hi guys anybody no were i can get parts from for the traxxas trx3/tcp :confused:

have you tried going to traxxas UK ? they may have a parts list aswell
any chance you could get some pics up of the car as i had one of these years ago i want to reminisce lol

yeah will get pics up if i get it built not found any though only a few on ebay and thats it traxxas site doe'nt list it :confused:

I have an original TRX3 :thumbsup: Got it when I ran for Traxxas back in 1993 right before the NORRCA off road Nationals here in the U.S. I got a pre-production car delivered two days before and had to build it the night before practice started :thumbdown:

I also still have a couple of TRX 1's and LSII trucks as well with quite a few spare parts.

Tell us - why was the TRX-3 a commercial failure, as opposed to his elder sibling the TRX-1?

And WTF ever happened to the TRX-2 :p ?

I have two TRX-1's and a NiB TRX-3 at home... two of the finest ever, imho...

I've got a trx3 sat at home, if I could get parts/more kits I'd love to run it in 2WD for a laugh!! Really liked the car when I used to run it!

What's the TCP?

You can still get lots of parts off the shelf from Traxxas, give Traxxas UK a e-mail. Or if they dont have it, you can get the stuff from Traxxas USA but it will take a while. Most parts are still available for both the TRX1 and 3. Plus some UK modelshops still have some parts kicking around. I've just brought a load of parts for my cars myself. Remember though you will mostly get black parts instead of white if they are new moulded items. Old stock tends to be the original white.

The TCP was the 'Total Competition Package', basically a TRX3 with extra options thrown in - extra wishbones, wheels, CVDs etc etc. I got one in parts, but i think the TRX1 is nicer to drive :)

Does anyone remember if the rear wheels are hex or pin, or if other cars wheels fit the trx3?

I ran for Traxxas in the UK back in the day and I won the only National for Traxxas. I made a couple of A mains with the TRX 1 and then got sent the TRX 3 and it had short shocks and short wishbones on the front. This was a wrong idea so I put back on the TRX front end and the car was ACE. Then the TCP came out with both short and long wishbones and shocks?

I remember a small article or two back in the day on your Traxxas TRX1/3 hybrid, so i built one myself a new one a long while back. I'll get some pics of it on tonight.

Only thing i remember i had to do was put a 3mm spacer in between the front bulkhead and shock tower as i used the smaller TRX3 shocks and shock tower with the different TRX1 sus arms which meant things didnt line up properly without the spacer.

The photo's later will show it properly... i hope :lol:

As we are running both the TRX1 and 3 again in vintage series, have you got any of your old set-up sheets kicking around that you could put up Woody ? Give us a bit of a head start ? :woot:

Only people i remember doing really, really well with the TRX1's and 3's were you and Mike Pooley i think it was ? And of course Craig Harris ;)

If your running then at the mo, what wheels are you using?

Feel the need to dust off my trx3!

Oh and as for wheels they use a pin rather than hex although you can use hex adaptors. I use Losi rear wheels slightly modified, with the pin set-up although im going to try hex's and tamiya or kyosho rears for an experiment. I just use Tamiya's up front. The old 5-spoke Ballistic Buggy wheels are my prefered choice though, as they look retro enough :thumbsup:

I have B4 wheels on the back of the TRX-1 I'm running, sadly I don't own the car but I am really enjoying running it in our vintage series. I can't believe how well it goes in Lipo/brushless trim :woot:

As Woody says, the TRX3 front end was the wrong way to go, I also went back to the TRX1 front end and shocks and the car was much improved. Also ran a Losi dual slipper and that made a big improvement aswell. Though the shorter wheel base of the TRX3 worked very well, but then the SWB TRX1 chassis was pretty good.

Hehe I remember that day, your car was so dialed that no one could get near you. I had major issues on that day and thanks to Mannie Panesar (I am sorry if its spelt wrong) I was able to at least race a few rounds. Great weekend that one.:thumbsup:

You have to admit though on dusty and slippery tracks and a hydra drive on the car was stunning in standard form. I dont recall ever breaking mine and I broke most things back then so impressed me big time.

I should have a (borrowed) TRX-3 at Caldicot next week. :thumbsup: Will be interesting to see how it goes and compares to the TRX-1.
I never had a TRX-3 back in the day but loved driving my TRX-1. Great over the bumps but just too damn haevy to last the 5 mins without gearing down when battery capacity was key. No surprise it goes well with lipo & brushless though.
