Lipo in ZX-5

Does anybody know whether a trackpower/orion style LiPo will fit in the ZX-5 chassis? It kinda looks like it will, but I'd rather be sure!

I think it wont fit because of the top deck getting in the way of the connector- thats just what I heard though and I haven't tested for myself. I would have thought if that were the case that you'd be able to wire the corally a different way and make it fit but I dont know.

I've used the Orion 4800 lipo and it fits in the chassis with the top deck on. The only problem is that the Corally plugs that are used hit the body. There just isn't enough space under the body. This problem can be solved by making your own battery wire that's lower and is angled 90 degrees. There's not much room and I'd actually recommend getting a lipo with regular deans connectors. Try www.maxamps.com

i fit it no problem. what i did was clean up the chassis to make it sit flat (there are small ridges along the battery slots), then snake the conector thru on of the open holes on the top deck. i ran a little extra lead to make up the difference in weight.

Jony, what motor, esc, steering servo are you installing in the ZX5?

Well, first of all I'm definitely a basher, not a racer - so I'm not sure that my choices will be good for racing. But I guess I've got some dreams of racing one day. [Although I think it'll be a while before I can afford a full-size car so that I can actually get near a track!]

I've got a Mamba Max 5700 which runs lovely in my Dark Impact. I'm going to give that a try. As for the steering servo, I forget the number - it's some pretty basic, but metal geared, servo that came with my radio.

Maybe you'll get better stuff from one of the more experienced racers round here ...
