S2 weight?
 

How heavy are you running the S2? At the moment my one is 1630gr, just added 100gr at the back and the car was planted. So 4 lead plates at the back (about 250gr) and 45gr in front of the servo and in the nose.

mine is 1645gr, thats with a lead plate under each lipo, lead weights running the length of the both battery straps (i think 35 or 40 each) and 20 grams in the nose but after a bit of weight distribution maths by captain harris on friday i need to add about another 70 grams to the rear of the car to get it properly ballanced and keep the back end in check.

Only 20gr in the nose? I found the car to be extremely easy to drive and fast with this set-up (astroturf/carpet):

Anyone knows what a S2 weights with out led...

1490gr with leads
1396gr no lead

1670gm with lead, 220gm under the lipos, 40gm around the front end.
1410gm with no lead

Mine is at least 1530gr, and max. 1650. Ater some testing I noticed it doesn't only depend on which track you're driving on, but on your driving style as well.

Exactly Rossi, the style of the driver is a big thing. On the last test Thursday past weekend, i was running.

Red pistons 37.5 oil front Green (light green) springs
Orange pistons 32.5 oil rear Yellow springs

1 deg AS and 3 deg Toein + 0.5 outboard toein
Outer on rear arm,2nd from inner in tower
2nd upper hole (inner row on tower) and 3d on rear hub (camberlink) 2mm under ball on hub)

Front, inner on arm, middle on tower - camberlink, inner on bulk , inner on c-hub

The track is bumpy, and i think the car is real dialed

My new S2 is 1400g as it stands :o

Have a brass front bulkhead in it but no other lead/brass at the moment.

Way too light, I don't know what the minimum weight for the Nationals is, but here it is 1479gr. For me the car was best around 1550-1650gr, depending on the track. With 30gr in the nose and 100-150gr under battery packs that is.

Im going to add about 150g to the back, I have a steel tray and battery straps ordered as we speak so that will add about 100g, then plus the weight of the lead under the LiPo's.

Hows your S2 going these days?

I'm driving the CR2 now, had my last race with it at the Kampenhout track, second place with the set-up posted on Petit RC (is the one from the Belgium GP, placed it under Bruno Heremans), works very well.

Weight is very important on this car, at the Kampenhout track 75gr made a difference of a lap :woot:

What position?

I have a 110gr under my battery pack, which is about 240gr (Vampire 4400). For some tracks I made a thin weight to put between the battery halfs of about 50gr (75gr was incorrect :) ).
The extra 50gr are of course better for low grip, but add a lot of stability on high grip too, making the car less twitchy and easier to drive. So most of the time I use it on astroturf and carpet as well.

And for very low grip I had an extra 50gr behind the rear shocktower and removed 12gr up front, leaving 18gr (GHEA bulkhead) in total. I even added an additional 100gr under the battery, so a total of 240 + 100 + 100 + 50 + (50 behind tower) = 490gr, without lead behind tower. Which isn't that much, just 70gr above the Ni-MH weight.

I have TrakPower Dark 4650's with no lead underneath = 282g
I also have a steel battery tray and battery straps being cut for me = 70g + 50g
And a Trishbits brass front bulkhead = 42g

282+70+50 = 402g so far.

Could add another 100g under the LiPo's I guess?
