Brushless motor with silly batteries
Im in need of a motor for 4WD to use for the indoor finals(if they happen) with my new lipos (Demon 4200 35C) as my 5.5 Novak is stupid fast!
Ive been told that my 6.5L Novak motor thats in my 2WD wouldnt be any good as they get too hot but would save me buying a motor for just 1 event. Any ideas? |
If you have a half decent transmitter turn down the end point on it so you can only use say 90% of the available power.

L motors are naturally a hotter, i used to run a 5.5L in my 4wd and it was great didn't get too hot indoors when it was geared right... untill i cooked it on really rainy day outdoors with full spikes tires and forgot to drop down a few teeth on the pinion to compensate and the wheels just spun up for 4mins and basically fried the motor :cry: I'd just use the 6.5 in it if i was you, it'll be dialled  Dan Greenwood runs an L motor in his 4wd I think

Like Mike said the 6.5L will be fine in 4wd

I was at York last night, trying some things on my 4wd ahead of next weekend and actually went to a 6.5L (from a 7.5R) which I intend to keep in for next weekend as it was perfect.
It is true they get hotter but I did the 7 minute final no worries, it was warm like but not a problem. I plan to run that motor in my 4wd for most of this year, though that might change when the new Novak Ballistic motors become available/legal. |
Orion 6.5. You know how long i have been using that so no reliability probs there!
