Lipo Disposal - URGENT
Oookk, so, I just managed to connect a lipo wrong way round, oops, so it is currently sat bloated in a lipo sack on my back patio!!! What do I do to actually safely dispose of it, how do I discharge down to safe? Bucket of salt water??
|
yeah bucket of salt water I was told.
|
I'll give it a whirl!!
By some miracle the esc appears to have survived, despite smoking and getting very hot and unsoldering a connector!? |
some one at our club wanted to swap the balance lead on his lipo the other day so he jus decided to snip them off lol when the cutter cut through the rubber coating on the wires they shorted you can guess what happened next lol
|
has to be lots of salt sot does not disolve anymore

Tbh, for now am happy to just not set anything on fire! |
Set them in cement, they'll be safe then (only joking).
Email the manufacturer. I may do this myself right now for you, as this info ought to be in a sticky thread in this section. Also, ask Elvo, I know his Dad told me how to do this last year. |
the saline solution neutralises the chemical process in the cell, leaving them inert. Thats how I understand the 'safe disposal' process is.`

just read this on the BMFA site

on this subject, may sound silly but how would i dispose of standard cells?
i have a load old ones that are just laying about at home that need throwing away. |
Your local 'dump' may have the facilities to dispose of or recycle batteries of all kinds - mine does anyway.
|
take off and nuke it from orbit. it's the only way to be sure!
|
what i did with my bloated lipo pack was to throw them at sea.....
