People going to the Euro's
Would people be interested in having some or all of there racing equipment taken to Finland?
As Glyn Ward is considering doing it this year but needs to have at least 15 people interested, to make it cost effective. He will take 2 hauler bags for £50, where as it will cost you £70 at the airport, for the excess baggage on any flight for 1 bag of aroud 23kg. |
yea we are going and yeah Im pretty sure we'll be interested in glyns help again
|
i was not going this year but i was asked if i would to take peoples gear as i have for the last 3 years.i have yet to cost it out have spoke to paul todayit will take me 2 days to get there and 2 ferries.will post on here when i have costed it.
|
How long a drive is it glyn ? is it mostly ferries?
|
Jimmy I think it's the best part of 1700 miles in total by land and water.
|
How you thinking of getting there jimmy ? i had a quick look and it seems you need to fly into somewhere like Helsinki and catch a internal flight maybe.

Take me 2-3 hours to get to Stansted airport in the UK :eh?:
I see you can fly into Vaasa from Stockholm or Helsinki which maybe another option. |
We have decided to fly to Helsinki on saturday and drive to Vaasa from there. You will probably rent a car anyway in Vaasa, so we thought, to save a bit of cash, why not rent it from Helsinki airport and drive there as its "only" 270 miles. I've just booked the flights for a few of us with BA, although not the cheapest they get there at lunch time which will give us enough time to drive to Vaasa and explore the town in the evening:p . I think Ryanair only have one flight a day and this arrives late in the evening (10:30ish) so you'd probably need to stay at the airport and make the journey to Vaasa the next day.

Go and check out transportation section from our website http://www.wasacross.com/index.php?id=15
We are doing our best that it would be easy as possible for you to come here. We have negotiated a deal with SAS/Blue1 and they will give you a discount. I would say that it's cheaper to fly via Stockholm and almost everybody wants to use connection from Stockholm rather than Helsinki. At least most of work mates thinks so... Remember our shuttle service so it's not necessary to rent a car. Renting a car might be a bit expensive here in Finland :) |
i have been looking and the ferry to sweden no longer runs so it looks like a no go.

No I think he means the DFDS ferry from Newcastle to Gothenburg doesn't go anymore. Think it goes to west side of Norway instead now.
