Hi,
I have also been looking at getting one of these. I havent commited myself to buying one yet. I can tell you there is no failsafe built in, and they are around the same size as the original "normal" sized rx spektrum released. hope this helps a little. :)

i do not agree about the comment of no failsafebuilt in you put the transmitter in to what ever state you want the reciever to default to if it looses its signal (eg full brake ) before you start the binding process.....

The SR3100 is specifically designed to take full advantage of the advanced DSM2 spread spectrum protocol that Spektrum uses in the DX3R racing system. This means it will provide the fastest response of any spread spectrum receiver, in addition to glitch-free performance. And it gives you all these advantages in a package that is small enough to fit on a 1/18 scale chassis with ease.
Key Features:
DSM2 Spread Spectrum
Fastest Response Rate
Dimensions (WxLxH) .85x1.30x.48in
Weight .21 oz (6g)
Voltage Range 3.5V-9.6V User Preset Fail-Safe
