looks good as always

Thomas P 15-03-2009 03:26 PM

Thanks m8, just waiting for some info from Mr Atomic about the tranny

jono83 15-03-2009 03:32 PM

what are you plans?

Thomas P 15-03-2009 03:44 PM

Just to get the car running..i did see some Proto pics here on oople, and with the 180 tunred B4 tranny there is some real job with carbon parts to get it ready...maybe im just testing to ru nthe car with the tranny @ normal position and some posts to get it little stiffer (and mount the shock tower) maybe the 4 gear S2 tranny may fit, that would solve some job for me

Body Paint 15-03-2009 04:03 PM

That looks very much like the last of the reversed B4 box chassis.

Not sure we even ran that design, well I didn't anyway. The rear toe brace mounted a bit differently but I can't remember exactly how it mounted now.

I'll see what pics I can dig out

OldTimer 15-03-2009 04:08 PM

I am pretty sure that we used a standard B4 gearbox on that chassis i think.

Body Paint 15-03-2009 04:19 PM

It's all coming back to me now.

That was the B4 boxed car.

I drilled out the BJ4 rear toe brace and fitted the stand off posts for the rear camber link brace through it.

JC's design allows the standoffs to mount behind the BJ4 rear toe brace flat on the chassis.

Thanks Jonathan and Craig, is there any chance to run it with the tranny @ regular position? then fix some front post for the brace ?

Cuz i have a almost NIB B4 nonFT with tons of parts...on the G

Body Paint 15-03-2009 06:31 PM

Don't think so. The holes in the chassis would be in the wrong place to hold the tranny on.

Thomas P 15-03-2009 07:57 PM

Ok..Hmm, il have to see what i can do..i want so little job as possible ,

Thomas P 15-03-2009 08:03 PM

Craig, how vill the car handle with the tranny flipped? Il see if i can fit a Stock B4 tower with the flipped tranny, otherwise il see if i can fit a Atomized B44 rear tower etc..

You mean with the tranny the same as in the pics?

The car was very good on a smooth track, in fact that car is still running at my local indoor club and is very competitive.

The problem with it was that once the rear of the car became unsettled it really struggled to get the rear back into shape. Often the only way was to get off the power slow the car right down, straighten it all up and then get going again.

As you can see from the pics there are large lead weights at the back to help the rear end dig in but it just didn't seem to generate it's own forward traction to well. Once it lost the forward momentum things could sometimes get a bit hairy.

The ideal tracks for this car are dry astro tracks or carpet tracks with jumps. The car flys beautifully.

Ok, sounds nice, il have my new B4 arrives tomorow, see if i can do anything with it =)..

Thomas P 17-03-2009 04:31 PM

HAve my new B4 here, and have just attached the tranny to the S2 proto chassi..looking good. But honestly i have no idea to get a rear shocktower in place...i have checked all pics, and it is real much job, i havnt said it wouldnt, but i think it is way to much for me...Besides a Stock B4 tower cant be blaced backwords..well it can, but the strengt will be zero. Fron rear hingepinbrace have no idea what i can use, it is real narrow under the gear box, @craigs pics i can see some small Blu alu..rear is regular BJ4

Mount it @regular..dont want that..it will be needing new screwholes etc..and rear hingepinbrace,, stock is rear t-plate..

Any ideas will be helpfull..

:/
