XX4 steering bell cranks

Im going through a lot of these bell cranks lately. One of me mates has the older style grey horn on his and has no problems. Are the grey ones stronger?? My steering is set so its not straining the servo either, and i dont crash as much as i used to do!! Its just the little knocks and the teeth say bye bye!!!

add 2 washers to the top that holds the horn on, one that fits inside and fills the recess and the other slightly bigger to cover the top, never had a problem since doing this.

nice avatar daz

is that a ZXR750 or a ZXR750R?

the grey ones were stronger but were omitted from the re-release worlds kit.

do the washer mod

or find a standard type servo horn to fit from memory it would be a 25 spline fitting without the keyway meaning a futaba horn would fit (might be a 24 spline making it a hitec)

washer + slightly longer bolt and itl be bullet proof. Broke two on my x-5, did this mod and didn't have any problems afterward.

Last time i ran my XX4 I broke 3 of these bellcranks and they were all fitted with a longer screw, and using a couter sunk washer on top. I just took the whole spline off.

try two washers brian make sure the first one drops inside the recess in the horn since i did this i have broken none

prob need a servo saver, as powerful servos keep killing the splines. KO to a tidy little black Kimbrough style one which cures all those problems. I had one fitted and never broke the splines again.

tried that but you get a loose felling in the steering, make's it very wishey washey

Already done that, there are 2 washers in the recess then a counter sunk washer and a 7/8" screw holding all together.

OJ i'm actually ripping the whole spline clear off not stripping it.

YOU bloody butcher brian lol:eh?:
there must be a few dodgy ones out there i heard some of the newer stuff was a bit dodgy. ie wishbones etc

trim the steering setting on your handset back a little, so there is a fraction of play in the steering on the blocks. I'll gurantee you this will help the problem as with the steering on full lock and nowhere else to go somthing has to give.

I broke one when I skimmed the wall. I put tire glue on the threads and it's holding it so far.

rich_cree 21-01-2007 09:09 PM

you just gotta superglue the lot together, its the only way....
