car fuel question

Got a rover (yes i no) siting up my mates place that i tried to get going for him as it hadnt been run for ages so after a while i got the engine to fire up, thing is though is that it only runs for about a second thenit stops, if i try to start it again all it does is keep on firieng but not actuallly starting, it runs ok if i pour fuel into the air in take as all that does is bypass the injecion system and goes straight into the intak manifold but even then it only runs for about half a minute or so, the fuel pumps pumping fuel and none of the pipes are blocked but it just wont go, which leads me to believe theres somthing wrong with the injectors somewhere.
Help:cry:

Is the key fob working ok? you have to press the unlock button to dissarm the immobiliser before starting, blinking red light in middle of speedo cluster.

sounds like you dont have enough fuel pressure once the engine is running

if fuse had gone it would not be running or pumping fuel mate!!

if the tank was empty and now you put 15 litres in, chances are, you fuel pump has sucked up god knows what from the bottom of the tank. Pull a hose off the injector and turn the engine over, if fuel comes out, the slim chance that more than one injector is blocked, reallity is, you probably got blocked inline filters.

injectors could be blocked by fuel that was left in them. injectors left for a while can gum up. a sonic bath would get them working again if thats the case. even if the tank was drained some fuel would still be in the system

Did it run before it was parked up?

savageman25 27-02-2009 09:03 PM

Car ran great when it was parked up, quick as a rocket oweing to the fac its the rover with the honda engine in:woot:, fuels coming out of the injectors fine, and its a nice clean color, got it too run for longer today (bout 5 minutes) but as soon as we tried to move it it started to sort of bog down and then it died, then when we went to try and start it again it was doing what i said earlier, running for bout 2-3 seconds then dieing:cry:.
My mate said though that if its not going properly by tommorow its going to the great scrapyard in the sky (croydon to be exact lol) as hes not too bothered as he's getting a new car either way, its just that even though its a rover i quite like it lol.

I would like to keep the car but today i had one last attempt to get it going and it fired up first time, then it died after about 5 minutes again and then when i tried to start it agan it kept making noise's like it was playing the konga drums:woot::woot:.
So we loaded it on the back of a transporter and took her to the scrap yard, my mate got just under £70 in the end so not all was lost:thumbsup:
But thanks for all the help you guys gave.:thumbsup:
