Losi Brushless Motors

Guys,

whats your opinion on the Losi motors, 5.5 and 6.5

Southwell 23-02-2009 02:42 PM

I personally think their ace, although if your running lipo this year you might want to drop to 7.5 or 8.5 in 2wd. They give good punch whilst still being smooth and controllable.

I am enjoying my 6.5 in 4wd....

millzy 23-02-2009 04:41 PM

what motor would you recomend somebody thats going to go lipo in his b4 and go for a losi brushless combo? not sure what would be the best thing

tiny tom 23-02-2009 06:02 PM

Well I run a 10.5 with lipo in my b4, but plan to get down to a 8.5 in 2wd.
But run a 8.5 in 4wd because I have seen the 6.5 and 5.5 and they are really fast, and as I have only got back into the hobby 5 months ago just breaking myself back into it. But have the 6.5 ready and waiting to go in the the xx-4. But the 10.5 is punchy I think for my b4, and run losi speedo in both cars

I've got a Losi 6.5 I'm very happy with, same performance as my Novak motors but cheaper.

I'm after a Losi 7.5 for the 2WD but can't find it on the DMS website. Only lists 6.5 & 8.5T......Do Losi make a 7.5?

Rocking Donkey 23-02-2009 08:50 PM

I have an Xcelorin 8.5 and I think its great so far. Very punchy even with my old NiMH's, but also smooth with my Speed Passion LPF esc running sensored and sensorless. The main reason I went for it over other brands is that there is a plug on the motor for the sensor cable on the motor, it's not soldered into place like on the Novak's (I know this is not the case on the newest Novak)...that and they're really cheap!

I've been running it in my touring car for a few weeks at Slough, some come and have a look next time you're down.

tyreman 23-02-2009 09:44 PM

They have been available since before Christmas

Welshy40 23-02-2009 10:00 PM

Cheers guys. Any real difference between these and orion or is it pretty much equal. Im currently using a 7.5 in my B4 and is a bit slow so am going up to a 6.5 hence why im interested.

The Doctor 23-02-2009 10:21 PM

Been running a 6.5 Xcelorin combo in my XXX-CR since Christmas & it's been great. Nice turn of speed and nicely tunable speedo, especially with the v2 firmware upgrade.

ive tested them in both 2wd and 4wd and just couldn’t get on with the lack of low end response

Southwell 24-02-2009 11:03 AM

Ive not noticed that at all, far from it, my 4wd pulls wheelies.
