Cheap Ebay ESC help

So looking for a bit of help/advise if you can ?

basically I picked up one of the cheap blue 120am ESC's off ebay (see link below)

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F183058775463

now I have purchased this for a vintage car am going to have some fun so not racing too competitive :woot: having said that I wanted to know if I can get my hands on a programme card for it or even change the settings on the esc ?

Any help appreciated

Stu.

What kind of motor limit do these things have?

fidspeed 21-04-2018 07:09 AM

I have seen 2wd run 7.5 indoors at worksop no fan on esc

Advise you swap esc fan as I think there poor

Regards Dave

Zoea 22-04-2018 04:25 AM

yeah I'd say 7.5 is about the limit for these (I have like 4 lol) but maybe 8.5 or higher for 4wd since more torque reqs

hobbywing program box (not card prolly) is best and don't forget to flash it with latest hobby firmwarek

Ah ok. Will the program box not work on the esc without flashing the esc ?

Cheers

Should workcfine but if you want extra timing a
Nd turbo you need to update software

The basic LED (not LCD) program card works with these - you can turn reverse off with that, and alter the dynamic timing and punch mode.

Doesn't have turbo though.

Someone I used to know ran a 4.5 on one of these Speedos for ages.
If you get the Hobbywing LCD box and load up the usb link software you can flash them with the firmware which makes them drive much better.

Got one off Wish for £9 delivered for a laugh. Used the prog box as above to load HW firmware.
1st heat tonight fried the fan. Stuck a WTF fan in and ran again, all ok for 2nd heat. 3rd heat it popped on the warm up lap.
Some you win some you loose!
Came home and posted a pic to Wish requesting a refund, didn't expect anything back but they gave me my money back within the hour.

Re

That's unlucky 😀
I do know someone who tried one running full boost after flashing firmware luckily I've not killed one yet I have 7 or 8 of them

I used the one I bought of eBay the other weekend running a 10,5 in a Top Force, esc hasn’t been touched from when I bought it and it worked a treat :wub I have now got the hobbyking box so do intend to flash it for the extra setting options so fingers crossed I don’t screw it up !

revol 27-05-2018 10:18 AM

The extra settings are a great feature to have for sure. Couple of other folk at my club have them and have had zero problems. As said, just unlucky. I wasn't pushing it with timing or turbo either but it did perform well while it lasted!
