Transmitter charging issue

Just thought I'd throw this out into Oople-land to see if anyone has ever had the same issue.

KO Esprit Vantage 2 tranny, 2400mAh NiMh cells in it and never had a problem charging with the cells in situ via one of the channels on my 4 way charger.

Current 4 channel charger is starting to play up, so the missus says get yourself a new one for Crimbo. Over to my local shop, and picked up a SkyRC Q200. Get it all set up, but it would not charge the transmitter. Error message was "no battery detected". Checked all the leads, tried another transmitter, all with the same message. Took the charger back where the model shop hit the same problem. It was mentioned in the shop that there could be a diode in the KO tranny on the charging socket that some chargers don't like.

Anyone else know of this or hit a similar issue?

there is a diode on the eurus inside the tx where the charge socket is.

i was told by at the time ko uk that they recomend not charging nicads in the tx as the gasses released can damage the tx

I've done it that way for years Mark. Never had an issue charging at 1.5A.

Im sure I've come across cells giving off gas if overcharged .on the flip side I have a ko esprit2 that I picked up from a retired driver it has hard wired nicads in it and must be at least 10 year's old it still charges and works fine
however were getting off topic I think some chargers dont like chsrging through tx port
can you remove yo charge direct ?

Hi chevy

no worries that's why its an open forum so we can all offer info and advice .From my experience I have had no issues before, others may have had , at a low charge rate cells shouldn't gas unless theres an issue with charger or cells,
else why would manufacturers historically fit charging points ?

by the way I have had issues charging full size race nicads years ago usually when the temp lead fell out or was removed from pack while charging !!!!
