Mixing different shock oil grades

If you mix different shock oil.grades. do they stay mixed or seperate?

Just a bit of a clutching at straws moment as i understand the math with ratios to get what i want. But not sure if the oil can chemically do what i want

There are so many grades available already.....why do you need to mix one..?

Need heavier oil.to test a setup i want to try.

Nearest model shop.is nearly 3 hour round trip lol.

Need a heavier oil? If you combine 60wt with a 30wt in equal measures according to my reasoning you end up with 45wt oil, not 90wt.

I know.

Plan is using heavier oil and lighter oil to get something in between.

For example

2000 and 700 in 3rd/2 3rd ratio should be about 1000

As long as the type of oil is similar, and the additives. They'll blend no problem.
Same brand/model is a good start. But most rc oils use a similar make up. So should be good to go.

Wouldnt try it myself. Firstly oils from differing manufacturers should mix fine, but:

Differing brands measure "WEIGHTS" of oils differently, the only way of being accurate would be to know the true CST of each oil to be mixed. and,

Even if you know the CST of the oils to be mixed, 500cst and 400cst mixed in equal measure does not make 450 cst.

Nah. It's pretty straight forward.
I do it for the shocks on my bike, rarely bother on the car as I've stocked up on sensible cst oils.

As long as you buy decent oil. i.e. From a manufacturer who actually measures (cst) rather than one who just makes stuff up to suit (weight).

And iirc it's almost a logarithmic scale, so easy to work out mixing ratios. Or you just use the link I posted. And it gets done for you.

Ive seen a nats winner top ten in the UK mix 100wt with 30 or 35wt a lot and worked well for him. Still makes sense using the same brand tho.
