xray xb2ce 17 set up

can anyone help with a base set up at stotfold astro turf track.

This is the second time out with the car and my second time with a off rd car in the past 15 years. I normally run TC.

Im finding the car to be a bit unstable with the suspension not settling down in the bumpy sections and have the tendency to try and traction roll which turns to mid corner push.

the car is set up as kit, accept for the rear shocks on the back of the tower and weighs in at 1570g. (is this too light?) front stagger ribs yellow and rear mini dart yellow pre-guled.

really enjoying the car though, as i have know real expectations of going fast in this class.

Try weight in the centre, I've seen as much as 140g added under the lipo and the cars looks a lot more settled through the bumps like this

What oil and pistons are you running? If you are getting traction rolling, the shocks on the back will not make that any better, try moving them to the front. Also up the diff oil to 7k, I found doing this makes a huge difference. At Stotfold I found I had to run heavier weight oil due to the big jumps and bumps.

Hi Simon,

1.6mm 2 hole with 500cst in the front and 1.7mm 2 hole with 400cst rear.

Yesterday the track did have much more traction that the time before as guys were there testing.

Xb2

I found that my xb2 was awful on darts changed to mini spikes transformed it.
I found darts better on my kf but defiantly not on the xb2 on indoor astro.

That is what I normally run, but at Stotfold you need to run heavier oil. Try 600cst front and 500cst rear. 2 dot rear and 3 dot front. Also as mentioned previously, most including me, run the 50g under lipo weight, this helps settle the car after bumps and jumps. Sometimes I go to 100g until lipo.

What diff oil are you running as this is really important in calming the car down.

Hi, 5000cst as per kit

charlesk 19-08-2017 05:44 PM

3dot front springs and 2 dot rears.
600cst front oil, 400cst rear
7000cst in the diff.
Long rear shock bottom and unwind the front shock bottoms about 2-3 turns
50g under the lipo (or a bit more)

The kit springs are a bit soft
7k in the diffs just seems to suit the xb2 on astro.
The rear long shock bottoms give the car the droop it needs to ride ripples/bumps well.
600/400cst is a good starting point for high grip astro.

Hi guys,

Without using the longer ball joint on the rear shocks for more droop. As you can see in the photo, anymore droop and the drive shaft will full out. Any ideas?

Are you using the inner hole on the arm?

Yes as per kit set up

Middle hole I find tends to be the sweet spot and that limits droop hence the long ends ;)

Tested the car today at Herts Astro track. Did get to change oils as parcel hadn't arrived.

I found changing to 5 castor, 1 anti squat, 40 grams under lipo longer rear shock ends and 1mm Ackerman transformed the car. Up the diff oil to 7500, this made the car better if I kept to the racing line and landing from jumps. Off line it wasn't as good.

Thanks guys for the help

Hi
I've had one only a few days ago and 2days testing now. Found

7k diff oil
Rear spring 1dot 400c oil
Front spring 2dot 550 c oil
Rear hangers middle dot front rear
Run 2mm bumper steer
3mm forward Ackerman
Run middle hole on rear hubs 4mm. 1mm on gearbox side
50 gram under lipo
0 degree on front hub inserts
Middle hole shock towers
18mm ride height

Like the 2017 xb4/xb2 dirt edition. The 67mm ones work very well with the new narrow rear pivots :D
