Tamiya Baldre/Dugra Set Up
 

Hi all

Just bought a second hand baldre (well just built but never run)

The previous owner had lowered it to the max - i imagine by limiting how far the shocks can return (spacer inside).

My question is how do you think this will run on an indoor off-road track which has jumps etc (Bury Metro)

It handles really nice outside on tarmac - just wondering whether it will be too low for indoors i.e. not handle the bumbs too well??

Of course i will be finding out come this Sunday but as we know better to get the car as ready as can be first rather than wasting time on race day..

after mine yesterday, will handle awesome, will put my setup on here later, if I remember!!

Is the car standard? plastic shocks etc?

yes, would be good to know if the car is kit stock, or if you have upgraded stuff like the shocks.

Standard plastic shocks - which it seems are best replaced with 501x shocks? or maybe something else?

Has universal shafts up front and a slipper clutch in it

Running Losi venilon 6.5 turn brushless system & lipo

Also upgraded aluminium steering asembley

The standard shocks are very similar (size, length, pistons) as the rc10B4 shocks which they (tamiya) used on the prototypes. So if you can get some B4 shocks cheap they are a good idea..
Afaik the upgrade shocks they sell have longer shafts than the original 501X shocks so are too long (even though they are made for the DB01 - madness)

The kit shocks aren't great tbh, putting the smallest pistons in there and going up in oil weight might help but tbh the shocks are the main limit.. that said I raced the Durga twice with kit shocks and it went really well - though you could see where it lost a little time on the bumps / landings from bouncing around.

I agree, the B4 shocks is a good upgrade, or the original 501X shocks. The kit shocks are good for, erm... filling a hole in parts container and nothing else.

I have the 501X shocks, Atomic Carbon rear shock mount, double slipper, losi 6.5 motor, lipo, so my setup should be good to go.

The only upgrade I would really REALLY recomend, is to buy a pair of 501X rear diff outdrives, the rear diff will get hammered and melt otherwise.

Thanks loads for the advice -sounds rc10B4 shocks will be the way to go - ill have a look now see where i can get them from.

Ride height wise - at the mo it must be 15-20mm off the floor - is that ok for jumps or do i need to raise it a little?

I will post my setup mate, and mine jumps like a pro basketball player, lol. I run my Durga, driveshafts level all round. I don't measure the height.

B4 shocks it is then - just trying to find soemwhere to get them from

501x diff halves too seem necessary - have to find where to get them from also!
