4wd car with it own mind
Hi raced at york tonite had a good nite apart from only finishing 1 race breaking 3 front wish boans and 1 front shock tower:(
problem is when trying to accelerate down the straight the car will suddenly vear off to the left or right ? Could it just be the fact its got to much acceleration and lifting the front wheels ? Car is a zx5 running 4* brushless with 4200 cells. |
alreet nick its garry lol, is all of the toe in set right and the camber ?
|
Hi garry yep toe in is fine.
|
Hi, many years ago I suffered something simillar, unless I crashed with a concrete block and broke chassis, after the crash I reviewed every part of the car and the only explanation I could find was a bad front diff making only one wheel to work. Quite weird, anyway.
|
Is it interference? I used to race indoors and sometimes get mental interference off the heaters.

hi nick
its toooooooo fast mate  Neil |
You raced at York indoors with a 4* ? thats your problem right there I think, its farrrrrr too fast!
|
Are the servp and servo horn in good condition? Thats the most obvious thing that I can think of that will make it swerve in both directions.
|
Hi yes servo horns are fine. Its the first time i have raced at york and a 4* motor was all i had with me.
As jimmy said and as i think 4* motor is just far to power full for that track to much punch causing the car to loose traction (spinning all 4 wheels or lifting the front end up) I will try a little less power next time:) |
Go through all these things to eliminate the issue...
Change Crystal Check receiver aerial length Clean out the receiver, making sure the receiver plugs make clean contact How old are your tranny batteries? replace them (could have 1 cell down) Is your crystal near carbon, ifso, stand the receiver on its side - crystal high Any 6v receiver wires passing 7.2v wires? change wiring if so Make sure cells aren't shorting on carbon fibre. and finally, make sure no single hub is binding (I doubt this, what you describe sounds like interference) |
Any metal on metal contact? That will cause servo glitches. Try it next time you have your car turned on, rub a screwdriver on a metal part of your car :o

In what fashion? Gently, taking long strokes I guess :o |
Like vinegar strokes Chris....

Am using spektrum should have zero interference ???
|
it could be the spektrum isnt getting a constant voltage with such a hot motor..the voltage drops and the reciever goes into lazy mode with the servo, try a power cap in the reciever see if that helps.
|
it sounds like the servo is getting spiked with a glitch, so them things you plug into the Spektrum receiver might stop that.
|
when you turn your radio off before the car, does the car still point straight?
I would guess that your fail safe is set so it has some steering on, you have a voltage drop under heavy acceleration and its going to its fail safe (with some steering on) 2 things to do -re-bind your radio to reciever (this will re-set the fail safe correctly) -use a voltage protector cap to stop it happening |
Car will go in eaither direction socant be fail safe set with steering is may be a power surge.
Got a power cap now so i will see what happens. Thanks all for the info  |
