Best 1/10 2wd buggy for Astro
 

Hi there,

I'm looking at a 2wd buggy mainly for Astro probably getting 1 second hand wots the best options , is 1 setup for dirt better

Most manufacturers offer a Astro or laydown high grip car these days with some also having a lower grip option. Plenty to browse online from model shops and see what you think your interested in

You don't say where you are racing and what experience you have and as everyone else will either tell you to buy what there using as it's the mutts nuts OR pay a visit to the local tracks you intend to race at and see what's popular and see if you can have a go of a few cars. Not all cars feel the same so finding one you can get on with is a bonus before you buy.

Schumacher and Associated seem to be popular in the U.K.
However PR, Kyosho and Losi all make laydown cars as well now.

Associated and Schumacher seem to have shop support from a number of U.K. Shops however.

I had the first Losi 22 worst car ever driven .

Second hand you will pick up a good value schumacher kf 2

Strong and smooth to drive everyone who owns or has had one rates them as a top end car

PR cars are strong and excellent value for money.

Ally rear hubs. Ally suspension hamgers. Carbon towers etc. All in the box.


I love them so much I have 3 lol

Simple little touches like the mm kit i just bought has optional wishbones in the box. Front and rear. As well as 2 choices of wing mount.

Truth is theres no bad models. They all good.

Just get something you like.

I too would vouch for the PR kits. A couple of friends have them, one rtr and one kit. For the money the S1 v2 kit is a bargain, insidelinemodels are doing them for £150ish which is a steal. I've been tempted myself many a time.

Personally i run a losi 22 3.0 on carpet for the past 8 or so months and it took a considerable amount of that time to get it do handle like i wanted, but it too is an excellent buggy, tough as old boots. I've had some spectacular crashes with it and only broken a idler gear.

The V2 hasn't been in stock for a while (& it's now showing £199)
I could be wrong but I heard on the RC grapevine it might not available again again.

Almost every manufacturer out there has a proper astro/carpet buggy in their portfolio. I'd recommend the kit that has the best support at your local track, both in terms of spares and set-up help.
For me, the Yokomo YZ-2 would be the obvious choice as a) I had one before and it was the best 2WD buggy I ever had, b) most of my regular pit mates drive it, and c) I could easily get parts at my "local" track, Arena33. If you are living near an AE/Schumacher/Kyosho/TLR/whatever stronghold, your choice should be easier than you might think. ;)
If all of the above are supported by shops and drivers nearby, I'd take a look at the upcoming TLR 22 4.0, which seems to be a great allrounder right out of the box. Except for the included ball diff (good for rainy days,though), it has all the bells and whistles for astro racing, e.g. hard plastics, laydown and stand-up gearbox and many smart little details like the hybrid composite/metal rear hubs. I used to have a 3.0 as a wet car and I was really impressed.

Kyosho Rb6.6 very good all round car and alot of car for the money
