Hobbywing 120A V2.1 software
 

Recently acquired one of the above to go in a 2wd I built, but the previous owner has installed V3 Stock software on it, and I want to revert it to V2 930MOD software.

No matter what I (and a few others) have tried, we can't get it back to the V2 version. There also seems to be a conflict between the ESC and program box where I get an error message telling me to upgrade the software (I guess that's correct if the ESC is V3 and program box V2). I've tried this and now the program box won't talk to my other ESC's! I've tried installing various software versions onto the box but seem to be going nowhere.

Is it case that once a HW ESC is upgraded to V3 it can't go back to V2? Or am I just being dumb and not following the correct procedure? I just want to lose the STK setting with too many turbo and boost variables and run it the same as the other couple of HW ESC's I own on the 930MOD software.

Can anyone help please?

Have you tried programing it through the box via pc?

Pretty sure you should just be able to select olier software on box via pc then upload to speedo

I have - but still can't roll it back to the previous version on the ESC. If I upgrade the program box (it's the older type, not the new one) then it'll talk to the ESC. But then it also won't talk to the other HW ESC's I have in other cars that are on V2 930MOD software.

Tried plugging box into PC but I wasn't getting much choice in the software to put on the box - and if I downloaded older HW software to download onto the box it wouldn't talk to the ESC.

I'm no expert on this trust me - I need an idiots guide :thumbsup:

Think you need the later multi function box
I have 3 boxes two old ones and one new one
1 runs v2 software
1 runs v3 software
the new one can talk to either v2 or v3 esc

probably not much help

Be worth it if it works. New boxes are only £20. Only paid that for the HW ESC!

Asking an obvious question but whichversion of esc is it?

Does it have the switch built into esc? If so, that's v3 or v3.1
And you can't revert back to v2.1 firmware.

just re reading post

to reload sostware you must do through a pc or laptop
lcd boxes do not carry sostware only ability to change parameters on currently loaded program

best bet is latest box as mine will do both esc versions

v2 with switch on fly lead
v3 switch embedded in case
as per previous gents post
I didn't think you could put v3 programs onto a v2 esc i could be wrong though I do know my older lcd boxes will only talk to one or other not both

HW 120A V2.1.

If I can't revert the ESC back to V2 software now it's had V3 software loaded on it then that's that - I'm stuck with it on V3 software regardless of what programming box I have.

I would like to know how v3 firmware was installed onto a hobby wing v2.1?
As far as I'm aware the last and latest upgrade is 930mod on the v2.1.

Could you show a screenshot of the v2.1 connected to the programming box and the laptop and open the hobbywing app on the laptop so we can see what it's showing and what firmware the esc is running?

thats your problem, v1 box only holds one set of software the later v2 multifunction box holds more versions as it has a bigger memory, other option is the wifi module , no need for pc with that, but never tried to go back on one either

There is confusion with the older V2.1 stuff, I found that if you install blinky 508 software the box became useless unless connected. To a PC, the V3 software not @hardware was to solve this but I found I could not use the Multi function box as intended. I only run blinky now so have settled with a 1s and a 2 s with pretty poor brakes but suit the chassis they are in

Thanks for the input guys. Being loaned a new HW box to try this week and see if that fixes the issue. If so then that's the way to go.

Will report back once I have news.

Does anyone have a link that will allow me to put the V2 930MOD software on my programming box? Have tried downloading various versions of the HW software but none seem to allow this option.
