About the larger belt roller?
 

I installed the larger belt roller and noticed it get's very close to the top belt after the fold. They don't make contact but a hard landing off power might make them touch no? Other wise it seems to roll more free.
Any input would help.

What is the part number of the item you fitted? It should be LOSA3282 for the large roller alone, or LOSA3280 for the complete kit.

To be honest I'm not sure what the part # was as I just had it already attached to a Losi XXX4 or XXXS belt tightener It's got about as much room as the thickness of the X-5's belt tightener arm. Maybe a tad bit more. I will run the buggy today and report on how it went.........

Cutting Edge R/C raceway. Indoor, medium grip, 80x40. Fun place to race and only 20 minutes from home.

You know there's nothing to stop you making a new hole in the tensioner bracket. I've done this before using a drill a few 1/10th mm smaller, then driving one of those Losi tapping screws through. I have/had (been that long since I've had it out) a twin pulley setup for more wrap with the stock pulleys. 2nd one was as high and far forward as possible to increasr wrap.

This black one sounds better though, so I have one on order and will try it.

Last night I was thinking the same thing. I have a 4-40 tap. I should just do that now before I go to the track...... You talked me into it Dan. Your the man!!!!!!;)

Well I ended up making 2 holes. 1 ferther forward and down. To far forward and the belt was to tight to fit the spur assambly. The second hole was below the 2 origanl holes and it fit fine. The belt is a little close on the bottom but it should be fine. This set up runs more free it seems with no slip on the living room carpet. Now, off to the track!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me if I need extra spacers or anything to use the Losi pulley? It is thinner than the stock pulley and I no a few of you gents have tried this mod. Can ya help me out?:confused:

yes you do, some CVD shims or something are the right size I think. Just eyeball it so the belt is all straight, it will tolerate some misalignment so as long as you are close you should be OK!

Any basic washer is adequate tho, so long as you don't need any tiny adjustment which a CVD shim will give.

Disregard my last post. I figured it out. Sometimes I can be a real noob.:wtf: 2 CVD spacers on the left side of the pulley and all is well.
Drive train seems to be more free with the same tension or maybe just a tad more. I am guessing the diff pulleys are out of round as well as the belt seems to get tighter in spots still..........

Anyone try the Losi diff pulleys along with the losi drive pulley?

The X-factory pulleys are all slightly out of round slightly.

The layshaft pulley is exagerated by the sides/belt guides being more so out of round. But this doesn't matter.

You can use two rear XX4 diff gears (one for the front) in the X-5, and you can use the XX4 layshaft gear (its actually the gear at front of the rear XX4 belt we use) in the X-5, but you'll find it changes the overall ratio.

There are a few people who just use the XX4 layshaft gear on the X-5 (reshimming the whole X-5 layshaft overwise there is a lot of play side to side).

Personally, I prefer the ratio which the X-factory gears give, and the slight inperfection in the shape cause's no ill effect that I have found.

If you are still worried, give Daryl at Lesro models a call as he can supply new gears manufactured to the same sizes as the X-factory gears but are perfectly round and central.

Yep here it is. The online store is a little limited, they have a lot more than they show online.

Personally I think the diff gears are fine, any tight spots are likely to be due to the centre pulley. If you put the xx4 centre gear in, you have to drop almost exactly 1 tooth on the pinion to keep the same ratio. If you start putting the diff pulleys on then you are going to need really small pinions.

If you run the xx4 centre pulley I can recomend 15*102 for a 10turn motor, then it's 1 tooth pinion per wind either way if you know what I mean?

Also I believe the Lesro pulleys are excellent but I've never ran one myself.

I have to admit adding the Losi pulley seems to have loosened up the drive train but is still has tight spots. I plan racing it today so we shall see. I am running a 14x2 Checkpoint motor and dropped a tooth on the pinion to compensate for the pulley change. I am very interested in the Lesro pulleys for the X-5. Sounds like a good up grade.

I raced the X-5 Saturday and found some interesting tid bits. With the diff in the front, the belt skipped even with the Losi pulley.

I put the one-way in and no belt skipp at all!!!!!!! I even tried to get the belt to skip but no luck. Just hard acceleration, Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!
On the 180 corners I had to tap the break to get it to turn tight and I was not use to doing that so it slowed me down.:(

Any one no why the belt skips more with the diff than with the one-way?:wtf:
