Toro 1s esc repair

As per title, and for no apparent reason, my Toro 1s ESC has stopped working. It still powers the receiver but does not respond to any throttle inputs. The on/off button flashes red continuously (not in the same way as in Blinky mode) I have connected the program box and after a few seconds, it comes up with "connection failed" on the lcd display. I disassembled the unit and removed copious amounts of carpet dust/tire debris, could this have caused a microprocessor failure? Having closely checked the PCB, there are no signs of any burnt out components or damaged tracks. Its as if the firmware/software requires re-flashing of some sort as nothing obvious is damaged. No burnt smell either.
Does anyone know of an electronics specialist who can repair these ESC's?
It was put away working, then 1 week later, when it switched on, I had the above issues. Its not been short circuited and is about 14months old. It was not bought from a UK supplier so returning to supplier is not an option.
Thanks in advance
Simon
