Info on a Laser ZX-5 Please

I'm new to the forum. So hi first of all.

I used to race when I was younger at my local club and i'm now looking to get back into it.. At the time a had a B2.

I've just been offered a Laser ZX-5. Are they any good. What are parts like to get hold of??

Cheers for any info in advance.

Hi Paul,

yes it is a good car,

It depends at what level you are racing but you want be far off the pace.
there have been a few improvements since the standard car was released.

Which version of the ZX5 is it?

There are several, at least one of them is a truely awesome car .... the earliest one isn't so hot straight out of the box

I'm not sure what version it is but its all carbon fibre. Its just the chassis with 3 shells and a set of wheels. He wants £50. What you think??

for 50 quid what you got to lose i suspect its a mk1 car modified

There were a couple of options - carbon fibre chassis on the original ZX5, I think Atomic Carbon did one, KMC did one with saddle cell layout and 3 racing did one the same as the original, car ran well enough on the original chassis, but the Carbon looks bling.

Spares should be easy, cheaper than some, good car to drive, easy to maintain, reasonably strong, lots of interest on here and you would possibly get your fifty quid back at the end of the day, brushless was tight under original shell, but possible or taller shells outthere.

Well i've taken the plunge. I got the chassis 3 shells and loads of spare's including a diff for £40. So just got to get electrics and go racing. I'm start off on a tight budget. I've got a 16 turn motor in the house which i'm thinking of starting off with. Then build up from there.
