X6 CAD drawings?

Anyone have access to X6 CAD drawings? A friend of mind is a suspension / chassis engineer and has done work in F1 and world rally. He's offered to do some calcs for me, but need some accurate chassis & suspension dimensions / measurements.

Anyone?

Cheers,
Scotty P.

I don't think it would generally be considered good practice to spread that sort of stuff about.

Chazz & Paul may not think it ace ;)

You'd really need to get your own parts and work from them to make your own mods.

ScottyP 29-01-2009 11:17 PM

You misunderstand Stu.

I'm talking about calculations to determine optimum suspension settings on the X6, such as oil weights, spring stiffness, shock positions etc. Also optimum positions for ballast. There is a lot of work being done on this in all camps (AE, Losi, Kyosho etc) with the light weight set ups now possible with lipo.

Understand however if such drawings are not made openly available. Just means I'll have to break out the verniers!

Cheers,
Scotty P.

use the masters set up sheets and you wont go fare wrong, big E on here
and set up will change from track to track,

ScottyP 29-01-2009 11:34 PM

Thx Matty. Our tracks in Aus are NOTHING like what you guys typically run in the UK so your set-ups are largely useless... sorry. We're a little closer to the US, but usually not as high traction, or as smooth.

Applaud what you guys are doing in the UK though. Clearly it's working and X-Factory are getting some very good results.

you know what you need to do... get many springs, pistons, washers, lead weight etc and take some good days at the tracks you wish to race on to try lots of different setups, all part of the fun of racing :) don't go all touring car like with the verniers and calculations for optimum super setups, you never know what works best till you've tried it all

Actually, once the car is out, and in public hands, then it wouldn't be hard for someone to data plot the components, and get a 3D cad drawing made. Time consuming, maybe, but not inpracticable or impossible.

As far as what the poster wants, good luck, in the end, he won't be able to get a definite setup, as with all things you 'race', the vehicle can have a base setting, in which gets improved, but you always end up with something that 'works' for you.

the point of the request is to then be able to use the cad drawings to calculate settings using skills outside normal rc (just drive it at the track for a day) philosophy, the question wasnt an open invitation for people to comment on how others set up cars, i'd have thought the "family" would have been interested in trying something like this, XFactory are known for their innovation and new ways of thinking, why "poo-poo" a new way of trying something. If xfactory dont want to give out their cad drawings or dimensions, thats fine, but as DCM states, you cant really hide the dimensions, the cars are in peoples hands right now

but if your "mate" has worked where you say he hasm then he would be ale to tell you why motorsport teams spend so much time actually physically testing there car, as the computor can not do it!!

A computer could do it, needs a lot of inputs though, not just car, but track mapping, tyre analysis etc. Would be intriguing to try, so good luck guys!

I raced an X6 in Australia - it was ACE :p
Definitely a bit different to what I'm used to tho.

Think you're a bit confused mc. I'm the one with the 'mate', not migs. If you're going to have a go at someone, at least point it in the right direction!

Of course on-track testing is important. I'm not suggesting it isn't. But this isn't F1, and I don't get time to test! Just figured a bit of mathematical assistance might be useful before hitting the track.

Never mind. Can see this thread is going to go nowhere. I'll get my ruler & verniers out.

C-ya...

Scotty,

I can see what you are trying to do and i would be interested to hear your findings. Obviously i cannot give you the drawings as i dont have access to them or the rights to give them to you if i did.

But if i were you i would get out the vernier and go from there as nobody can complain if you do this. I'm interested to see what your mate comes up with and whether it will relate to 10th scale cars.

Good luck :D

Did you drive it upside-down? Or on the left side of the track? :-D

The CAD drawings of the X-6 are not for public distribution.

Lee 30-01-2009 01:47 PM

Elvo,

The left side is the right side to us :woot:

Now that could be confusing when drunk :o

My mate said the Moon is upside down in Ozz, is this correct?

But, he also he told me he has a Monkey Butler - but I cant find them for sale anywhere, not even on Ebay.

I want to draw it completely for you. 50$/hour

;-)

I've once (re)drawn the B4 with Elvo. Also not for public distribution ;-)

Stu 30-01-2009 04:30 PM

Why would you want to draw G's Monkey Butler?
