Swapping cars during a meeting?
Perhaps 'changing' is more accurate than swapping..........
I have not yet read the BRCA rules and regs so the answer could be there: In a meeting with four heats and a final, can I assume the same car has to be used for all five races? Or can a driver qualify with one car and then run the final with a different one which could be more suited to changing conditions on the track? |
I don't think there is any rule against changing/swapping cars during the day.

There's no rules to stop you using a different car in every round and then a fifth for the finals! :woot:
(not at regional/national level at least) |
As long as they all meet the regs of course!

Ah ok.
Just seems a little unfair to me as it could possibly favour those with greater resources than those without. While I agree driver ability is the biggest factor by far, it can still provide a potential advantage over other drivers. |

IFMAR do try and implement chassis control, as they have to be nominated and marked before qualifying. A chassis is just a flat piece of material though, so there's nothing stopping a driver bolting on ready-built gearboxes or bulkheads if they have them to hand. You can't do much about it. |
I am not suggesting for a moment that cars have to remain the same for the entire meeting but I do think that it seems a little unbalanced if someone can race an entirely different car from heat to heat to final.
It's a good comparison though, in motorsport if a new car needs to be used (if permitted) then it is usually an exact duplicate of the first one. As you say, that's motorsport for you. |

i wouldnt want to be restricted to one chassis, not on competetive grounds though. a lot of people who are mainly clubmen or who have lower levels of funds available run older cars with less parts support. if they are restricted to one chassis and they break a part, the meeting is then over for them, while at the moment the option is there to borrow a car from a friend. it would also discourage people from bringing and racing handmade and home modified cars, where there is no parts support
