B6 on a budget
Really don't want to have to buy 6 cars for me and my boys so wondering if anyone has used the laydown transmission conversion for the b6d? Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302127116582
Is it easy to swap in/out is anything else need like a different shell etc? |
To my knowledge thats all you need. Real easy to swap out. Same body, just needs a little trim.
Edit. Just remembered that the most annoying thing is that the motor is on the opposite side. You will need to resolder the motor wires or put bullet connectors in them. |
B6 laydown
You'll need a gear diff perhaps as well.
It's a no brainer. I wish now I'd bought a b6d and bought the laydown box. Two cars in one. Wish they did the b6d box and parts as a kit like that. |

Both three gear so no swapping sides for the motor
|
Can the opposite be done a b6 converted to b6d?
|
Oh and the front and rear shock mounts on the rear arms too
|
I've just done this myself, came with everything needed. You'll need both manuals to hand although it's not that hard to build. If you want to swap between them, you'll need to take it all apart as it shares things like bolts and bearings etc.
|
How do you mean everything I'm guessing it didn't come with the diff the different front wishbones etc?
|
No but everything you need to fit the laydown transmission, it's not designed to convert to a full B6. You can also fit the rear shocks on the front or rear too.

As the 2 front shock towers are different on the 2 cars is there anything else needed to swap the b6d front tower to the b6 so the gull wing arms can be used, like what it attaches to?
|
same attachments. Just match arms to tower.
Bear in mind if you run a front wing the top mounting points are different so you'd want two wings...Or mount it low on front of tower then no worries. |
