Marshall leg guards
 

I have posted this in here as well as forsale section so people can disguss and give there opinions (hence why the cost has been removed)



As the tittle says really the pictures will explain more but as im sure most are aware of the risks when marshalling at an event, accidents still can and do happen. After being asked by my local club to produce something to help aid the protection of a marshall when marshalling in tricky areas or were alot of speed is involved i designed a simple yet affective solition. Given that alot of clubs run with very little protection for marshalls i thought i would offer them to other clubs too. As you can see from the pictures they are made of 2mm mild steel are very sturdy and have a base plate welded into them i have also added my local clubs logo into them but i can pretty much cut anything you would wish in them, marshall numbers, club logo etc etc

I nearly had a 4WD buggy come off the straight and smash me in the ankles on Sunday. Luckily just before, I moved the marshall cone from the left side of me to my right of me incase this happened! Glad I did now :)

A few holes in the base may be a good idea so they can be fastened in place?

Would stainless be an option so they don't rust?

Some safety edging stitched on or a safety hem/fold around the edges might be a good idea just in-case someone slips attempting to return to their post. Non-slip underside (or bolted down as suggested above) might help too.

Could you lazer cut a number into each face. To identify the marshalling point?
And holes in the bottom, either for a couple of soil screws, or a handful of tentpegs!

Looks like a trip hazard to me (especially if you forget it's there in the heat of the moment)

Maybe a pair of kick boxing foot/shin guards might work :p

I've seen and stood behind these at YORCC in York for months.

There's been no issues as far as I know with people using them.

Everytime you hear a 'clang' that's a leg saved!!!

They look amazing but a cheap option would be to buy metal bins and angle grind/cut them to same shape.
That said I really like them and wish clubs I race at would invest in them.

I belive YORCC have use a non slip matting underneath and tape them down on race nights

And i would imagin the RHR will peg theres to the floor

Essentially i can offer just about any fixing a club would like

Very simple and effective looking solution. The best ideas are normally solved with straightforward solutions.

If you think marshaling rc cars is dangerous, try it with karts. Trust me, you learn to move!!

Don't think a metal bin in 2mm steel would be that cheap!

tried and thoroughly tested in doors at worksop and seeing some of the damge done to one today probably saved a broken ankle
