Gearing For RB5
Hi guys, im looking to run my rb5 for the first time this weekend at dudley. Got a friend to help me put all the electronics in yesterday,im not so good with the soldering - thanks butch!!
here's what i have: Nosram Matrix ISTC Esc Orion 10.5 and 7.5 Brushless Motors Lipo Cells 48dp 78T spur Ive decided i should start with the 10.5 motor, just need a little advice on gearing now. we've just installed a 28T pinion for now.. and this seems fine to me (tried it in the back garden) what pinion should i be using..? am i in the right area using the 28T on a 10.5 motor? Thanks in advance Gurdeep p.s. anyone else using the rb5 at dudley tomorrow? |

hi stu!! (just sent you an email too)
yes im running a friends lipo at the moment (not had time to get one myself).. its a reedy 5000mah 20C. i cant fit any pinion bigger than a 28..not physically possible to mesh with spur gear?? and as for neo.. Im helping to build the Track mate! apart of DXR :D looking forward to racing the mp9 there.. Gurdy |

hope u get in..i really do!
hope tomorrow goes well..i will report back to you ;) so will it be ok to start on 28t pinion?.. dnt wanna fry the esc or motor. lol gurdy |
start with a 26T pinion if u have one.
i tried my novak 10.5 with a 26T 2 weeks back. very happy with the speed... especially since the motor wasn't warm and i can still gear it more aggressively during a race. fyi, i was using the novak motor with my tekin rspro. |
Your car was good gurdy, gearing was fine!!
Good days racing, |
yes matty.. turned out ok with the original pionion installed.
