soldering iron.

Hi guys,
Any recommendations on the best soldering iron / station to go for? Not wanting to spend a fortune but don't want a cheapo rubbish one either. Cheers

I bought a station from Maplin. It's been brilliant

solder station

HI
If you follow the link below, I have 2 types of solder station for sale, as already said the maplin one is really good but it is a bit bulky in your hauler bag, the precision gold one is better for your hauler bag but the iron itself is not as good.

Cheers for the replies, I bought the exact Maplin station yesterday and took it back. It only had a point tip rather than a flat chisel type. The extra tips available were all of the same point type. What's the one you have Jim?

These are worth a look.

The Team Corally Solder Station is excellent and only £69.99. It's worth considering the Solder tip set also so that you have a range of tips for the job.

if you need a 12volt 50watt iron let me know as I used to sell the best on the market called spec racing iron formally known as wasp racing soldering iron

leelar 11-10-2016 08:12 PM

Still gave my wasp iron and still going strong after 20 years

Jabber 11-10-2016 08:25 PM

Thanks for all the info guys. All sorted now.

Those wasp soldering irons were brilliant.

wasp / Spec Racing. Still using mine 26 years later, plus have a new one packaged as back up. Best irons for racing as they take up virtually no room in your pit bag and red hot in under 30 seconds.

Is this a re-baged Wasp Iron?

I bought it from Apex Models about 15 years ago. It still works great however I would love to know if there are any replacement tips which fit.
