What's the best way to remove paint from plastics
What's the best way to remove paint from plastic parts ,wishbones etc ?
I've looked on the tinternet and people use brake fluid and dettol has been mentioned, anybody got any tips ? |
Remober
There is a graffiti paint remover you can get from diy stores, it worked but on lexan it does end up making it brittle. Wish bones etc may be different?

Im sure ive heard of brake fluid too I think that was on hard plastic/ABS like early Tamiya bodyshells

I've used brake fluid in the past to clean paint off old yoke wings

+1 for isopropyl alcohol, brake fluid is good for removing paint on metal but not for some plastics, also acetone is good, but again damages some plastics. depends a lot on paint type really, have even used methylated spirits before which is great as long as your pyromaniac tendencies stay under control (like scaring people by setting fire to your hand and waving it at them!) boiling can also be quite effective sometimes too

I used some brake fluid in the end , it worked a treat, although I now realise why they painted the wishbones white as the plastics have been dyed black :(
