Academy SB V2 diffs

Hi,

Ive been racing my Academy V2 for a couple of months now and im very pleased with the car as a whole. But I am having some big problems with the rear diff.

The rear diff diff keeps slipping no matter how much I tighten it up and the last race I was in it came off completly solid with no diff action but it was still slipping! Ive striped it down but cant see anything wrong with it!

Ive been racing touring cars for years and never had any problems with diffs. Is there anything different to consider when building a diff for a buggy over a touring car?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly welcomed.

Replace the guts of the diff, especialy the diff screw and nut holder, and it wouldn't do any harm changing the balls and plates to.

got the parts on order so ill give that a go! Ive ordered the complete diff kit so the whole thing will be new!

Sorted

Diffs are all sorted with a little bit of Teamwork and some good quality Losi diff grease and some good Yokomo Black Grease on the trust race .......:D

I've read on other forums about these diffs being rubbish, try differnt ball, thrust race, plates, anything you can that isn't academy!!!

Dan, mine were pretty good though, when I ran the original SB, it was the outdrives that screwed up (well, anything machined out of steel/alloy).

I Think that the biggest problem with them was the Diff lube that is supplied with the kit! I think that its a bit on the thin side and just oozes out!

After we fliped the plates round and built them with some quality lube they were fine!

yep diffs were fine if built with associated lube,as steve said it was the diffhalves that were the let down as they werent heat treated..the titanium ones we had made cured it tho :)
