Charging old batteries

Going to give me old losi a spin round at Bury next week using the old equipment that's still in it

Some of the batteries charge up ok (not sure they will last 5 minutes tho lol) but some I can't get to even start charging

Most of them are nimh I've got a nicd charger that works OK with the ones that work and a lipo charger that also does nimh but I can't get them to work. Charge light doesn't light on the nicd charger and it comes up with a circuit error on the lipo one, any ideas?

What kind of batteries are they, what chargers are you using?

Think I missed that :wtf::confused::eh?:

What type of batteries eg 1700 scrc ni-cd/GP3300 Ni-MH/IB4200SHV Ni-MH

What type of charger eg LRP Pulsar/iMax B6/Team Orion Advantage

The older chargers are a pro peak 2500 and orion 48 the lipo charger is a LRP quadra pro 3

The batteries range from 3300 to 4200 1.2 nimh some of which charge ok some dont

Your LRP is a standard 4 button lipo charger, I've got several of them and mine don't like charging old batteries, I've got some good packs that charge no problem but my really old well used cells just wont start on mine either.

The Team Orion charger if it's the one I think it is starts off on a slow/trickle charge then you hit start to fast charge the battery. If you just slow charge the battery for about 20-30 minuets before you start fast charging and bring up the voltage slowly you might stand a better chance of them taking a charge.

If you have a multimeter you could check the pack for cells with a low voltage.

connect the pack to your old charger and leave it sat a while, most nimh chargers will trickle charge as has been said above, my old orion, apex sigma and pro slopes all do this. if it doesnt work you may well find the cells have crystallised and ready for nimh heaven.... unless you are really naughty like me and put them across car batteries for a few seconds to give them a kick and burn off the crystals causing the shorts in the cells, they will still have poor duration though. dont do this to intellect cells though, they go pop....... oops!!!

I'm shocked to say it's worked with the first pack can't see them lasting 5 minutes but will give em a try
