Cracked Top Plate & empty rear shock after heavy landing

Hi Peeps,

I took my FTB4 to a local BMX track this weekend and had a couple of heavy landings.

When I got home I cleaned the car up but noticed the backend of the car was covered in oil and my right rear shock was pretty much empty. After taking it apart I found that the square clip inside had popped out. Does this mean that I didn't build it right in the first place or can this just sometimes happen with bad landings?

After a rebuild it does seem to work fine, I'll have to test it out.

Also I noticed that I've cracked the Top Plate across the left hand screw hole. Can I leave this or should I replace it straight away? See below

Oh and I've ripped uprights of the rear wing.....This sport is gonna cost me a fortune if I don't get better lol

Cheers

The shock may be ok after the rebuild, if it happens again, I would recommend replacing the clip with a new one.
It depends what you use the car for as to whether the top plate will be ok or not, obviously also depends on how bad the crack is

Okey dokey. I've ordered a new top plate just in case. Not sure if its going to be a bugger to replace or not.

I would be tempted to put a washer under the screw untill you have to change the top plate, not a difficult job. Expect to damage bits now and again, usually shock towers and wishbones, but on the whole the B4 is pretty good.

That sounds like a plan, I'll put the washer in first and when I get more time I will swap out the part.
