DCM 17-01-2009 12:31 PM

nothing, it is just a saloon shell

bmx833 18-01-2009 01:11 PM

some people said it was a jaguar

qatmix 19-01-2009 07:49 PM

looks more like a Audi to me, (R9-f is in my sig pic)

its a nice looking shell, actually has some shape compared to the std jelly moulds.

Mike Hudson 19-01-2009 08:12 PM

I was gona say it looks like the cross between an audi and a jaguar :woot:

lochness42 09-03-2009 03:42 PM

regarding to approved shell list on efra.ws it's based on Audi A4

sosidge 09-03-2009 05:40 PM

It's obvious now you've told me! :eh?:

Now I don't actually object to "original" shell designs, but I do object to claims that shells are based on cars they quite clearly have no relation to.

About the only similarity between an A4 and the R9 is the front grill shape. The lights (which are the easy way to make cars look alike) are completely different to any Audi. The rest is pure fantasy. If anything the nose is closer to the R8 supercar, the tail is like a Honda NSX, with the roofline of a Mercedes CLS.

At least the body fits the Global Body Spec. And I suppose the good news in terms of keeping touring "scale" is that it doesn't appear to handle either, everyone is still using the Mazda6.

Try looking at an Audi A4 racing in the DTM series

bit more like the shell!!

Also it is probably not called Audi due to legal reasons i.e. they don't want to pay Audi for the right to use the Audi brand name

Yes that's the car that R9 is based on. I should have mentioned that DTM too - for full list for year 2009 follow link http://efra.ws/news/download/2009_Bo...ektro-2009.pdf

sosidge 10-03-2009 06:08 PM

Sorry, still looks nothing like it!

Lamps are still different, DTM car has fat side skirts, flared arches and winglets on the bumpers, R9 body has none of these, windowline from the side is different, etc.

As I said though, I don't mind original design shells, but let's save ourselves from the pretence that they are based on reality!

Here is Tamiya's A4 DTM by the way...

And that Protoform R9 - sorry, "Audi DTM" according to EFRA...
