shortening long servo cables?

Putting the electrics in now, but seem to have 10cm of servo cable on the servo and another 10cm on the ESC. What do people do with it all? Is there any cunning way to tuck it away or do people cut the cables down and crimp on new connectors?

Not so bad cutting the ESC as its had plugs on both ends so can be replaced. The servo is captive at the servo end so would not be trivial to extend if I ever needed to.

I normally fold it back on itself until it's the right length and then put heatshrink around the part you've folded....

I've done the same as martin has done and placed the heatshrinked cables in between the electronics:) looks very neat and tidy:D

If your handy with a soldering iron then you can take the case off the servo and get a shorter servo wire or chop it down to the length you want and resolder it on.

Same here but with zip tie.

I did the same as Martin and Steggers. And I thought I had been rather clever......Obviously a very bright bunch here :)

You can curl the wire to have a very neat instalation, wrap the cable around a pen, not overlapping it, hold it tight and slide the pen out, this leaves you with a curled, shortend wire with no hastle at all. best of all it looks neat!

just had a quick look through the pictures, this is what i ment, good enough for world + euro champ anyway!

It can be done shorter or longer than this depending on the size of the curls.

Thanks guys. Think I'll try the heat shrink route assuming I have any big enough to hand. Presumably I need to not kink the cable too tight?

Failing that, I'll go your route Paul! Cat SX chassis is a bit more cramped though so I think it won't look as good as in that team associated.

I colour mine with black marker pen so you can hardly see them.
