Hi is this plastic protection on both sides if the body shell that need to be removed before painting.

It's been over 10 years since a painted a shell and do not remember plastic protection before.

Any tips on shell prep and painting before I start masking.

Protection film is only on the outside.

Shell prep, wash in warm water with washing up liquid using kitchen towel, do not scuff the body with scrouring pad, rinse with warm water ensure all soap suds are gone, dry with kitchen towel.
