Wheels for 90's kyosho 4wds. Optimas and lazers
Hi all. Hoping you can help.
Me and a friend are looking to race our modded Lazers against modern buggies. So we want to be able to use modern 2.2'' rubber for Astro and carpet racing. Jc racing do spokes wheels which are 2.2 and have the right offset. We are after dishes and 5203 and 5204 (modern equivalent of 5026 & 5027) dished Kyosho wheels are proving hard to find these days. Anyone else found any dished wheels that share the same offset? Ansmann mad rats were meant to be the same but are impossible to find as well. Thanks Sz |
Ftx vantage pro wheels.

Wheels
Nice one guys. Team c wheels ordered.

Can someone clarify what ZXR these fit as I was told the MK1 offset is different to the MK2?
|
Type in mad rat wheels on ebay and a set of black wheels appear. They are a better product than Kyoshos origional so cant go wrong with them. They are an exact duplicate of the width and dimensions of the original so nothing else to do other than fit.

Heres my car which I believe is a MK1? https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1651/...335c9c52_c.jpgUntitled |
Off sets exactly the same as i use them on my racer and bought pretty much all wheels until i i found these.
Think the issue is your using narrow front end and could be the wheel ridges are nipping your wishbones, but thats easily resolved by clipping a smal v into the areas affected on the wheels. |

Edit: just looked at the manuals as I just remembered my car was a ZX originally, the front end parts look identical in both manuals so the HPI spoke wheels and original ZX wheels must have just given a wider track meaning the ZX was wider than the stock ZXR, Like you said Welshy I just need to make the wheels fit or find some. |
The hpi wheels i didnt like when they came out and as its a while ago memories a bit vague but could be hence why my car felt off in the first two rounds of qualy so i chucked them and stayed kyosho until i found the annsman wheels.
First off you need longer front ujs and if you take the castor block (teamline ball raced best block out there) off the front youll notice another hole and that pushes the castor block out making the front wider. This made the car more stable and possibly added half to one lap in your race. Ebay sells them listed as mad rat wheels and £14 which includes delivery so yes they are black and two sets left so get it while you can |

Push the wheel a bit out thats why the mkII came with w5063 longer front unis ,due to the zx came with rear wheel ofset on the front Make sence ??? Pm me if you want more info Mvh isobarik |
Hpi wheels have rear wheels offset on the front
Still possible to get the hpi fivestar wheels but you have to cut the front wheels Youreself since they are only avaliable in wide Mvh isobarik |

give the ftx vantage wheels a try , they are the same offset as the original wheels , don't need any chopping/trimming to fit and are only £8 a set of four from the ftx website. |
Funny trivia when mike dunn won the nats withn an lazer
Back in 90s it had redrilled front hubs to get the ofset right for the Zxr wheels but he used optima custom rear wheels on all Four corners with losi step pin tires all around so with the redrilled front hubs It would look wider in the front but i think he spaces out the rear Malingsbo it very wide Mvh isobarik |
Iso,
Thats clay and kindof understand why he did that, problem is over here the grips more so need a different platform for the grip so having standard hubs on rear with standard dimension as per zxr wheels is the way to go, ive done a lot of testing on the rear hubs and width as you know but find the standard zxr kit set up is the best here. The cars front does need widening as you know makes it more stable in cornering at high speeds. Also if you start spacing the hexes then its more load on the motor. Ok had some wheels sent to me by my sponser and tried on my car, turns out the front wheels on the Sworkz 2wd are an exact match so either the Sworkz logoed 2wd front wheels or these http://answer-rc.com/uk/en/3269-tpro...white-4pk.html Pity the rears were not suitable |
