Looks like you can use the Dirt Spec gearbox etc on the Bmax2....

mes 02-02-2016 04:12 AM

...and the B-Max2 MR gearbox as a 4-gear option on the DT. I still hope they'll do a new 4-gear transmission with the shock tower in the rear like on the B5M for loose dirt tracks, but maybe this shock tower position can be achieved with a spacer. :)
Is it March yet?

Following some news on new parts on the Malaysian TY blog, pre-order is now open at TY Europe/Mibosport. Compared to the "old" YZ-2, the price has remained the same.

Does anyone know if there will be a conversion kit to go from the "old" YZ-2 to either of the two new ca or dt versions?

Smasher, I think I read somewhere that to go from the current 4 gear to the 3 gear is just buying the gearbox and maybe the motor plate.

It's a straight swap.

yes, i have asked this to Michal from Mibo , for the carpet edition there will be 3 parts that need to be bought to convert. the dirt edition is not possible. to much difference, also in chassis plate.

In that case it might be worth trying the 3 gear version on the Astro. The only thing I would have to try is how the 3 gear goes on damp Astro as I can't remember that many dry days at Bury last year!!!

Weight will shift less along the longitudinal axis when accelerating or braking with 3-gear. I don't know if this is better or worse in the wet, but my first thought was to get the DT as a wet car due to its more rearward weight bias and ball diff.

Just the gearbox, idler gear and motor plate? Hm, if I add the other gearbox internals and a new body, I'll want to have a new kit anyway. ;)

There will be a possibility to buy the 'upgrade' to 3gear in one package.

I'll be probably trying the 3gear, according to Lee Martin it should be easier to drive, even for the less talented

Good to hear. I'll see what I make of all these nice options to spend my money on. Maybe I'll make a wet car out of the std YZ-2 instead of the DT.

Robocop 10-02-2016 11:10 AM

I was thinking of a new dirt for the wet and just get a 3 gear box for my existing yz2....

mes 10-02-2016 12:45 PM

Another good option. So many choices! ;)

evertonal 11-02-2016 10:38 AM

Does anyone know when these cars / parts will be available?

skyaflake 11-02-2016 10:49 AM

Yes, available in March.

CA scheduled for early March, DT scheduled for late in March, both in time for Easter! ;)

So, just to make sure I understand, the standard YZ2 can take the DT rear end, but not the CA. However, the existing YZ2 is already OK on carpet so I'm not too worried about that.

I mostly run on slippery wood floor (indoors), or sandy astroturf outdoors (both of which can have a tendency for low grip) so the DT rear end might help me?

Or have I got this the wrong way around?

Exactly my thoughts, the DT or the rear end parts should be what you are looking for.
