RC10. Lipo conversion.

Might seem a silly question to some of you.. but what is needed to enable Lipos to fit into the RC10...? The battery holders on my '91 Worlds are too small for Lipos to fit into..!
Thanks...

Hi Alan, you could try new battery holders from the Re-Re if they fit?

Also, I've seen two battery holders servo taped to the chassis closer together and a shorty used.

Or there's this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...%204000%20roar

Maybe?

Most modern LiPo batteries should fit snugly into the front battery 'cup' but will probably be too tall/thick to fit into the recess in the bulkhead, fitting a bulkhead from a re-release RC10 should solve that, as they are designed to suit modern batteries. Using two of the battery cups end-on-end with a shorty LiPo is a good solution too but you will have to trim a bit off each cup to allow them to sit closer together to suit the length of the battery.

If you go for the rear bulkhead option & a full length stick pack you will need to move the front battery cup forward slightly to accommodate the hardcase LiPo - which come up longer than the old Sub-C cell battery packs. I didn't bother re-drilling my chassis, I just stuck the battery cup down with double sided servo tape - with plenty of surface area they stick down well ;)

The RC10 re-release was modified for lipo by removing the bottom section of the battery location on the bulkhead, and moving the front battery cup slightly forwards with new holes in the chassis..

Most people I know have done the same as Dan, stick the battery cup down with servo tape rather than bother drilling the holes.

Thanks guys... I will go for the re.re bulkhead and moving the front cup..

Or save a bit of £ & just trim out the bottom of your existing bulkhead?

I use the original battery cup in standard position. I have a shorty lipo in place and fill the gap with foam.. Works a treat, doesn't look overly nasty and saves ruining an original chassis.

Thanks Matthew.... I'll try that one first...I have a couple of "shorties"....:)
