driveshaft pin ends

The pins on the end of my driveshaft and centre shaft are quite well worn. Do i have to replace complete shafts or can the pins be changed? Also any way of preventing them wearing out again. Thanks dan

You can replace the pins.

The attached photo shows how I prevent the wear rate from being too high. If you go to the facebook page in my signature, there are details of how the C-Blade is fitted.

Ok. Thanks for reply. Where are the pins available to buy from and is the upgrade as pictured available to buy so once i have pins replaced these can be fitted and should be good to go for a while. Thanks again

What usually happens is that people send their worn drive cups and shafts to me and I machine the drive cup and fit the C-Blade to the dog-bone end of the shaft.

There is one brave soul who has mastered the art of fitting them but the blades are currently hardened and tend to break if you don't do it properly. Sometimes they break when you do do it properly and somethimes the dogbone is not drilled bang on and needs some work to give the C-Blade half a chance.

I charge £16 per coupling and, to date, only one has failed in service.

There is a slight hold up on production of C-Blades at the minute. This is partly due to the LCG gearbox work and partly because I am investigating other ways of making them.

On the diff outdrives, I have only ever fitted them to the geared diff and don't actually know if there is enough room on the ball diff before the C-Blade would hit the central nut.

Send me a PM here or a message on the HBI facebook page if you want more info.

Cheers

Clive
