Blast From the Past

Hi All

I was a member of what was then Caldicot Model Club... perhaps a millennia ago now, all my kit has got old dusty and forgotten about, and having chatted with a colleague at work about R/C it got me wanting to give it a go again.

So... I have purchased all new gear, and a Schumacher Cougar KF2 SE and was hoping to pop down to Caerwent sometime soon.

Its all a but daunting for me at the moment when I was last doing this it was bits of wire some 27MHz crystals and a few nicads and now it seems to have got a lot more technical.

So, as an oldie but newbie is there anything I really need to know before I pitch up with my gear and break a few wishbones?

Hope to see you all soon!

Graham

Hi Graham,

Still some of us oldies there, so hopefully you will recognise someome!
If you've already got all your gear, then just pop along and have fun. If you've still got stuff to get then feel free to ask away.

One thing worth remembering is to bring a LiPo Bag to charge your battery in.

Cheers
Pete

hi graham , there are plenty of oldies still racing at caldicot so you wont feel out of place and you will be suprised at how quickly it all comes back to you.
there are quite a few members with schumacher cars to help if you need any.
see you there.

Thanks both,

The lipo bag is something I have to organise I am a few bits short on my kit so that will be in the next order for sure!

If not this week it'll be next week before I'll be along!

Pop along anyway Graham, you can have a chat even if you're not ready to race yet!
With lipo's you shouldn't need more than 2 packs tops, and will probably get two runs out of a single charge - a far cry from the old days of barely making 5minutes and a pack per run!
What motor have you gone for?

Cheers
Pete

Yes it was a lot to take in when i came back, takes a long time to find your feet plus a lot of fun.

Also get a good charger, me i prefer LRP quadra but plenty out there that balances the lipo you, and always make sure you leave charge in it, i normally have half charged when not in use. If still looking for a transmitter and prefer stick Sanwa do a good cheap 2.4 if still available.

Wish i lived closer as this club is still my favourite. I will venture out to race sometime next year with Dave, wonder if Afro still pops in.

Thanks all.

I couldnt make it last night, only because I didn't finiish work until late and I have some issues with Battery charging at the moment leads and lipo bag which happened to turn up yesterday morning!

Anyhow - I am off next Friday, and will be along, just to double check are you in the old Gym at Caerwent still? (it does look like it from the pics?)

I remember last time I came the main entrance was locked and a star studded entry was made by banging on the fire exit at the end of the hall

Thanks

Graham
