Schumacher stockists? Looking for a Cat SX S1

Guys im after a new 10th car, changing from a B44 and im looking for a cat SX. Probably going to get one of the S1 models, it will suit the little bit of indoor racing i do. Is the only difference the change from CF and the steel turnbuckles ? Also has anyone got any good starting setups for running on polished floors.
Main problem i can find is that noone seems to be stocking the S1 apart from modelsport who are pretty expensive. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good schumacher dealer, somewhere online would be better.
Thanks.......

Hello,
I have a schumacher CAT SX the 2008 model for sale on eBay. I see that you have a B44 right now. I was not overall satisfied with the B44 either. SAE screws, and the driveline and diffs just not free enough for my taste. Only good thing is parts are cheap in US. I also race Xray products XB808, XT8, T2008. Where I am going with this is, I would recommend to you a TRF-501X instead. The parts are easy to get from Japan and Hong Kong and eBay. Tower Hobbies also carries them. The car is quality and built like a tank. The only weakness that I know of is the turnbuckle ball ends. Just thought I would save a fellow Xray driver the trouble and frustration. Check out the review.

Someone looking for a S1 cat I am sure won't have the budget to get a TRF-501X!

Here in the UK the CAT is reasonably priced and everywhere stocks spares, unlike with Tamiya stuff...

Anyway on topic, MK Racing, DMS Racing, Apex Models etc all sell a lot of Schumacher stuff. Probably best phoning any of them to check stock or availability before ordering.

I believe PBM racing have had some Cat S1's in, not sure if Andy has any in stock or not, but i know he has had some through.

Give Andy Wallace a call at PBM, what he doesn't have he can get as quickly as you will need it.

Good choice on the Cat SX. For a setup have a look in this section at the setups thread, I have posted one which works extremely well on all surfaces. Although the S1 comes with a setup on it you ought to try first - it is highly likely to be very very good.

i would go to pbm he is a top bloke and will be dead right on the money..also a handy guy for setup advise too

Kind of more off topic

Id like to get another CatSX. Is the S1 version cheaper? Whats the price is USD? I havent seen to much info on them

As far as the car. If your still trying to decide, this thing is just amazing. I couldnt be happier. It drives just like no other wheeler I have driven. I love it! And its tough as heck LOL. you cant go wrong with this car. It may be expensive, but as soon as you open the box you will understand the price tag.

Cheers for your replies guys, ive done a bit of looking about and it seems that no one has any of the S1 cats in stock bar modelspurt. I would of only considered one of the poverty models had it been cost effective. I seems i can get a Pro model SX for £290 at ben racing so @ £25 cheaper it seems silly to buy an S1 model from modelspurt. Tried PBM racing and they where pretty helpful but was quoted £335 for the pro kit.
Ill speak to ben racing 2moro to make sure they have physical stock before i order one.
Another question, is anyone racing a cat indoors on a slippy floor and liking it ? 99% of my racing will be in a sports hall on a polished floor so the car needs to work wellon this surface.

Anyone other than Modelsport stocking the Booth Spec? Looking more and more like I'll be going down the Cat route...

Also, will the new models have the new outdrives?

Darren Boyle 06-01-2009 12:48 AM

We have more Booth spec's. S1's and LIPO versions all on their way at from Schuey at the moment to replensih low stocks after Xmas.

What are your prices on the booth spec and s1?

Darren Boyle 06-01-2009 11:26 PM

At the moment our prices have been £329.95 on the Booth Spec (RRP £369.99) and £249.95 on the S1 (RRP £299.99), BUT these prices wont last forever since Schumacher are implementing "another" forced small price rise as of this thursday coming (8th Jan) and all stock that comes in ton us after that date will be at slighlty higher pricing to us which will affect our prices too sadly. BUT (again) all of the stock we already have in and that which is already on its way to us will be at the lower prices until we sell out (it will not be "moved up" in price from thursday) We already have Booth kits and S1 kits on the way, so our next few will be at these prices I have quoted above AFAIK from info from Schuey...

HTH, Darren

Im going to order my cat this morning before the price increases that are coming. I race 8th scale nitro and the price increases there from the stuff from the US and the far east have really made a difference to the costings there and it now looks like a uk company is increasing its prices in the uk so it's a viscous circle !!
I have one question, which cat do i buy ? I like building my own cars so i was 99% set on buying an SX kit but i have since been told this comes as the original spec car with the short links & outdrives etc. But both the cheaper S1 model and the Phil Booth comes in the latest spec with revised links, outdrives and spare pistons & spring set. Is this correct, if so it makes the 'booth spec one a bargain.
