Protecting paintwork after new shell paint job

Just wanted some general advice please on protecting my new paint job back from a trusted painter via oople.

Can I spray the inside of the shell to protect the paintwork or do you use shoe goo and tape which seems to be what I can find out from forums etc

I just covered mine with cricket bat repair tape, from eBay.

I use glass fibre tape on the inside of the shell to protect it

When I've painted a shell I spray 2 coats of Halfords / carplan clear lacquer to finish and seal - especially the water based paints as these can rub off quite easily without it. If you warm the shell first and put the coats on thin it goes on invisibly and gives a good tough layer. I then cover with either gaffa tape or cricket bat tape (as above).

Ive used grp tape and considering my Lazer shell is seven years old it still looks almost new. Make sure its proper tape and once it goes on you can pull it off and reposition. Otherwise i would think someone can do a clear protective backing kindof like a varnish.

I use foam tape, AE chassis protector off cuts in rub areas too, a good black backing coat works well, maybe even a few coats of faskolor clear sealer.
