what brushed motor trf501x
 

what quality brushed motor do you guys recomend and what pinion are you using for the 501x need good acceleration.cheers hope to be racing at maitland outdoor soon.:thumbsup:

Orion Revolution brushed motors stay nice and cool and provide very long brush life IF geared correctly. I really liked my Orion Revolution 11x2 when I had it in my 501 almost two years ago now.

Brushless motor systems are really the way to go, especially in the 501. Most racers place the ESC directly across the motor for best left/right chassis balance. You should be able to put the receiver and personal transponder directly across from the steering servo to keep things balanced on the car. Check the photos in the "501X electric installs" thread here in the Tamiya forum. It should help alot!

i just thought brushless motors made silly power and you couldnt keep them on the track. is there a brushed motor that can keep up with a brushless ??? and do they run brushless at big competitions like at the worlds??:D

Brushless seems to be the easy option for sheer simplicity..

If i were you id look at a Checkpoint 19 turn money motor with the "Infinity silver brushes" pretty good motor and easy to look after..

Or a Losi Brushless system with a 6.5 - Cheap as chips and seem pretty good!

Hi, i always liked a checkpoint 10x2 in my trf501x the power delivery was not as sharp as a 5.5 brushless,but the top end was identical,but of course the brushless is a lot easier to maintain, i.e nothing to do:lol: p.s i use a 17t pinion on a 5.5,21t on a 6.5,20t on a checkpoint 10x2.

ive been looking at all the installs ,man there tight with the brushless does anyone make a short stack brushless the sheer length looks like a problem:D

Hi, have a look at the 501x installs in the tamiya thread, should give you some good ideas, the car isnt that bad for brushless.;)
