Head-unit
Can i test my head unit by connecting the live and neutral to a 12v battery ?
or is this a rumour ? |
that's the way it works on any normal car so i don't see why not :p just don't get the wrong wires lol
|
lol, i'll have a good check of the wires before i connect them :p
|
Just thought you might want to run a fuse between them too just to be safe, but i think most run on internal fuses or something anyway? otherwise halfords would struggle to wire them up :p
|
or i could use my power supply i suppose
|
i doubt it would be a problem because theres no transformers used in cars or anything, just wouldn't want to see you blow it up from a power surge or something. electricity is a funny thing, managed to blow the sky box up last weekend cutting a cable in the garage which was connected to a breaker that was switched off, still have no idea how :eh?:

I run a head unit in my work room right off a computer PSU, and as long as you know which wire (12v+, 12v Constant and earth), then great.

2 Attachment(s)
these are the 2 pages of wires in the instruction manual
which wire goes where on my battery ? |
right, car battery was flat
i put a link between the earth to the neutral on my power supply, a link between the constant live on the head unit and the live on my power supply. then i put a link between the ignition on the head unit and touched it onto the live on my power supply SUCCESS !!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::woot::woot::woot: |
