Speedo control repair

Anyone able or know anybody who can repair speedos?
Blown my absima speedo by stupidly in a rush connecting it up backwards....

Pm. Pugs on here......chances are though, if you reverse connected it, it will be beyond repair..

It's so annoying it takes a split second and then it's screwed..... Should be a fuse on these things

I know it is a bit late and with no recompense but arranging the lead lengths so that they cannot be plugged into the wrong battery port is the simplest solution and usually possible on most layouts, it also keeps the leads short as well.

Of course some esc's are self protected in the first place, may be worth the future proofing investment?

One saving grace, we have ALL done it at some point, if we are honest and for those that haven't, well done or very lucky!

Couldn't agree more... I've done it myself on a new LRP..,
Xracer's idea is a good one...

can easily happen on saddle packs as there is no standard for polarity lent my spare K1 to a good fellow racer yesterday both running saddles of different brand, and positive / negative connections are in "different corners"

2 sec later magic smoke and poorly speedo hopefully a capacitor may solve it luckily it was on a chaepy job

regards dave

Yes, I've noticed that some shorty packs come with the terminals the opposite way round too.

The tekin 411p speedo used to have a fuse built in if i remember corretly, used to just put a blob of solder on the two pins if it blow..........would be a great idea to re-introduce for the racer, but not for the manufacturer as they wanna sell more units.

fidspeed 28-09-2015 08:23 PM

Yup i remember them still have 410 k keypad speedo kicking about

hobbyking xcar 120amp, that things like a cockroach! it wont die!

A lot of ESC's have a diode as part of the capacitor pack (or sometimes directly on the ESC board) that will protect them.

thats what got blown it ran for 3 mins without a capacitor then stopped
it may yet live like the cockroach

dazp83 29-09-2015 12:19 PM

I done the same on sunday but it killed a battery rather than the esc.

Xracer 29-09-2015 01:10 PM

Another trend now is for the battery connector tubes to be accessible from either side of the battery, now that does require some fool proofing, out with the sticky tape patches there!!!

Good to see all the confessions coming out from you guys, yes it does hurt the pride and usually the pocket too! :(

fidspeed 29-09-2015 08:16 PM

buy cheap buy twice is the old adage !! im happier buying cheap then I don't cry so much when I lose an ESC there all on borrowed time its just a matter of when !!! not if !!

regards dave
