RC10 Classic Drive Gear/Cups Bearings

I have just got hold of an original A stamped RC10 Gold tub. It came with the original bronze bushes. I bought an Avid bearing set for it and I'm having problems with drive output bearings in the drive cups.

Is there a trick to inserting these? They're really tight fit and I don't want to wreck the new bearings putting them in.

Thought about heating them up in a cup of boiling water then trying to insert the bearings.

Any help greatly appreciated....

Put them in the freezer for 15 min and try that

Thanks peakey. I'll have a go and see what happens.

Bearings in the freezer and Drive cups in boiling water eventually gave just enough to get them in. I think a safe description of the tolerances would be FT.

Well at least you got them in

Lol should be the other way around heat to bearings and cold to drive cups as you want the bearing to expand and the drive cup to contract:D

As I understand he was having trouble getting the bearings inserted in the plastic hubs, and didn't want to force these in.

I thought they were internal ones not external :confused:

Peakey is correct. To clarify, this was the pushing the bearings into the Gearbox internal outdrives. I therefore needed the cups to expand and the bearing to contract to insert the bearings in the cups.
