When would be best to meet you all??
 

Hi. After a long break from the sport, I'm trying to get me and my young sons back into the sport. It seems a lot has changed since 1990!
We have a couple of 2wd team c tc02c buggies to get us going, and I'm looking for a local club where we can join and get going.
Where are you racing at the moment? Indoors or outdoors?
When would be best to come along and have a look?
And when would be best to come along and get on track? I'm concious that my boys are (very) novice, and perhaps a few non-race practice sessions would be best before I subject any racers to them...
I would be grateful of your advice, and look forwards to meeting you all.

Currently we are still racing outdoors at Spenborough Sports centre on an Astro track so are less affected by weather.
Tco2c cars will be fine and don't worry about driving standards. We cover all abilities and I'm pretty sure that when my 6yr old girls come and race, they aren't as quick as other drivers, but we all have to start somewhere!

Over winter we race indoors, usually at Whitcliffe Mount Centre, although there are discussions about the future for indoor as Whitcliffe has been identified by Kirklees for closure.

We are a friendly club with a range of abilities and plenty of helpful folks - I only returned last year after a lay off since 1985. All you will really need are your cars, batteries and charger and for outdoors a battery for charging from. Indoors we have 240v.

Racing is most Sundays, usually from ~11ish to ~4ish. Come down and have a wander and a chat. By all means bring the cars as there is usually time between rounds etc for a little practice.
Re: info sources. Bit disjointed at moment. Website is probably last choice, with oople and fb being the main places that info is posted for start times, meetings etc.

Can anyone tell me what tyres run well on the outdoor track?

Schumacher yellows and also blues.
Mini pins on rear work best, but mini spikes last slightly longer.
Staggers or cut staggers depending on how much bite you want at front

Most people either run with Schumacher mini spikes or mini pins (yellow compound) on the rear when the track is dry.

Fronts for 2wd either Schumacher cut staggers or standard staggers (yellow compound) narrow/low profile in the dry which you can still probably use when damp.

Not had too much experience in the wet at Batley :thumbsup: but for the rear I have some Ballistic Buggy mini spikes (Green compound)

I eagerly bought some BB greens a year ago as I was told they'd be good for the wet. But never had to use them yet. Except once accidentally at Cullingworth. I can categorically confirm that BB greens are useless indoors at Cully.

There's a meeting on tomorrow which usually starts between 10:30 and 11AM.

It's a relaxed atmosphere and I'm pretty sure the kids will get plenty of track time.

I'm not going to be there so we will need someone to trundle round slowly and qualify last. They can take my job :thumbsup:
