Using lipos to power lipos charger!?

Does anyone use a lipo to run their charger when at the track? I have a decent lipos charger but run a power supply to it at home and the power supply unit is bigger than the charger!
Sure I have seen people running their chargers on a lipo at the track but not sure.
Does anyone do this if so what lipo, I'm assuming 3s for a typical 11-15v input?
