rc18t servo trouble

Hi all... can anyone tell me why the servo on the 18t wont return to centre...? it is doing my 'ed in...!

Are there any "stronger" servos out there for this truck?

you may have stripped a gear in the servo with a heavy impact.

something like the hitec HS82MG would probably do the job far better than the kit one. Fast, and metal gears

Thanks for the advice Jim... the servo eventually stripped anyway so I replaced it with a new TA servo from the 18r I have... still no joy!! It just will not centre!!!!

The linkage is not tight and I have even relieved the top chassis member to make sure it all clears... Its gonna find itself in the bin soon... but I will try your suggestion first, cheers...

HAve you upgraded the drag link to the 3 racing one with the extra spring clip to go over the servo saver?
This helps the steering precision loads, i would also recommend a hitec metal geat servo they are good value.
The associated servo's are ok for playing about with but no joke i wrote off 3 of them in one nights racing!
I don't have an rc18 now, i saw the light and got a shark but these 2 mods solve the sloppy steering and centre issues. Good luck!

You need a HS56 for a direct fit to a RC18 or you can make a HS65 fit. I think the HS82's are to big for RC18's.
Ally link and saver spring clip are essential for removing slop.

Ive found the best steering setup for me is the HS65mg servo using the Hitec Servo saver kit (esential as the others dont fit) and a DP Delrin drag link. The link needed freeing up a bit to get it smooth but this setup bullit proof.

Ive tried all the different upgrades and none have worked as well as my current setup. I race on a carpet track and the give in the servo saver stops the steeing being too twitchy and makes the car very balanced. The HS65MG fits using the standard servo clamp.

Ta for the replies... I will be getting a MG servo ASAP....! :woot:

I seem to remember the kit servo saver had parts for the Hitec servos in it... guess I'll have to ransack the box for it!

Where are the steel clips from anyone?

Hey MRD... see ya on the 7th...! :p

HS-56 is in and it is good.... jus' added a little mod tho'... lexan dogbone shape cut out and fitted to rear of ball cups on the drag link... keeps it all together and moving (nearly...) as one...

Sadly I have also fitted a brushless combo... 8000kv (:woot:) of totally unusable power! good fun tho'!!

See y'all Wednesday....
